Elias Monage

President and Board Chairman

Elias Monage is the Executive Chairman of Arabela Holdings (Pty) Ltd and Afika Holdings (Pty) Ltd. He is a member of the BRICS Business Council South Africa and has been Convener of the Black Business Council at NEDLAC and as the President of CAPES.

Mr Monage obtained a degree in Insolvency Law and Practice at Rand Afrikaans University (now known as the University of Johannesburg). He has also studied Telecommunication, Regulation Policy and Management at the University of the Witwatersrand and holds a qualification in Executive Coaching from the University of California in Berkeley.

Nonhlanhla Ngwenya

Vice President

Nonhlanhla Ngwenya is the Managing Director of MphoNo Energies and a Board Member at KSB Pumps & Valves (Pty) Ltd. She has 16 years’ experience in senior management positions in the electrical and technology fields and nine years as a Non-Executive Director on various Boards.

Ms Ngwenya holds a National Diploma in Electrical Engineering and a Bachelor of Technology degree, both from Pretoria Technikon (now the Tshwane University of Technology), as well as a Management Development Programme Diploma, a BSc Honours in Technology Management and an MSc in Technology Management, all from the University of Pretoria.

Pieter DuPlessis

Vice President

Pieter du Plessis is the Chief Executive Officer of Atlantis Foundries (Pty) Ltd. He is an active member of the Cape Chamber of Commerce and currently serves as Chairman of the Cape Engineers and Founders Association representing employers in the Western Cape and has previously represented SEIFSA as part of the negotiating team in the Metals and Engineering Industry National Wage negotiations. He has over 30 years of experience working within the Foundry and Automotive Manufacturing sectors and is highly skilled in lean manufacturing and the implementation of Industry 4.0.

Mr du Plessis holds a National Diploma in Metallurgical Engineering from Pretoria Technikon (now the Tshwane University of Technology) and graduated from the University of Stellenbosch with a BA Hons in Business Administration.

Honey Mamabolo

Non-Executive Director

Honey Mamabolo is the Managing Director of The South African Mint Company (RF) (PTY) Ltd. She was previously Chief Executive Officer of Thebe Unico and has 20 years’ experience across various economic sectors, including mining, retail banking, energy, development finance and manufacturing.

Ms Mamabolo holds a B.Eng degree from the University of Pretoria and Certificates in Project Directing (PM Ideas), Strategy and Change Management (Regenesys Business School) and Financial Management (University of South Africa).

Tumi Tsehlo

Non-Executive Director

Tumi Tsehlo is the Chief Executive Officer of Dynamic Fluid Control (Pty) Ltd. He has 23 years’ experience in senior management positions in the electrical and technology fields, was the Managing Director of the South African Mint Company for seven years and has served on various other Boards.

Mr Tsehlo holds a BSc degree in Electromechanical Engineering from the University of Cape Town, an MSc in Industrial Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand and an MBA from the University of Cape Town.

Ernst Volschenk

Non-Executive Director

Ernst Volschenk is a Shareholder and the Operations Director at Reinforcing Steel Contractors (Pty) Ltd. He holds a B.Com degree from the University of Pretoria and a Managers’ Programme Diploma from the Gordon Institute of Business Science.

Mr Volschenk has almost three decades’ experience in senior management and related positions in the agricultural, mining, construction and export sectors.

Pam du Plessis

Non-Executive Director

Pam du Plessis is the Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer of Invincible Valves (Pty) Ltd and is currently the Chairperson of the South African Valve and Actuator Manufacturers Association (SAVAMA). Pam was employed at Invincible Valves in 2007 as an Accountant and was promoted to Financial Director in 2009.  In 2013 she was part of a management buy-out.

Pam is also an active member of UNITEDSUCCESS promoting Women in Business Globally and is currently actively running a mentorship program for young entrepreneurs who are seeking to set a solid foundation and grow their businesses and is also a trauma counsellor as a courtesy to the community.

Pam graduated in 1992 at Pitman’s (UK) in Accounting and obtained First Class pass and in 2014 obtained a Diploma in Psychology and is currently studying Mechanical Engineering.

Malcolm McCullough

Non-Executive Director 

Malcolm McCullough is a past Group Chief Executive Officer of Murray & Roberts Limited and is a Director of various companies, within and outside the M&E Industry, including Non-Executive Director: WBHO, Chairman: Kelly Group Limited, Executive Chairman: Wilderness Holdings Limited.

Mr McCullough’s current position is Chairman: RSC Group, Director: Kosto Group, Director: Masimba Construction Holdings (Zimbabwe), Director: Proplastics Limited (Zimbabwe), Director: Duraset Strata Control (Pty) Ltd, Director: PRP Solutions (Pty) Ltd and Director: Addax Tourism Investments. Mr McCullough is a member of the Steel Master Plan Council.

He was educated at St Andrews College Grahamstown, graduated from the University of University of Cape Town, a post-graduate part-time MBA from Wharton School University of Pennsylvania and a BCom Hons CA (SA) (Retired).

Mervyn Naidoo

Non-Executive Director

Mervyn Naidoo is the Group CEO of ACTOM and is a member of the Steel Master Plan Council.

Mr Naidoo was appointed Divisional CEO of LH Marthinusen (LHM) in mid-2014. He was previously Divisional CEO of Reid & Mitchell (R&M), which he was appointed to in 2012, following ACTOM’s acquisition in early-2012 of the former Savcio Group, to which LHM, R&M and a number of other leading businesses operating in the electrical rotating machines and transformers repair markets belonged.

At the time of the acquisition Mr Naidoo was an Executive Director of Savcio Holdings and the group’s Business Development Executive. An electrical engineer by profession, he has also held senior management posts in several other local electrical rotating machine repair companies during his 25-year career.

Mr Naidoo obtained a BSc Eng (Electrical) at the University of Natal.

Ryan Haynes

Non-Executive Director

Ryan Haynes is a Human Resources Practitioner at Frigoglass South Africa (Pty) Ltd.

 Mr Haynes holds a National Diploma in Human Resources Management from the Tygerberg Institution (University of Stellenbosch), a Management Development Programme Diploma from the University of Stellenbosch and a Diploma in Professional Development Assessment from BIOSS.

 He has 16 years of experience in managerial positions, including in corporate governance and transformation.

Lucio Trentini

Chief Executive Officer

Mr Trentini is the Chief Executive Officer
at SEIFSA. He has been with SEIFSA since
1990 and over the last three decades he
has gained extensive experience in the
metals and engineering industries and
has developed sound working relationships
with all industry stakeholders. Mr Trentini
represents employers in the metals and
engineering sector on various institutions
and statutory bodies and is the lead
negotiator in the metals and engineering
industry wage negotiating team. He holds
a BA in Economics & Industrial Psychology
and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management
from the University of the Witwatersrand and
Graduate School of Business Administration
respectively. He also holds an Expert Negotiator
Certificate issued by the Gordon Institute of
Business Science.

Tafadzawa Chibanguza

Chief Operating Officer

Tafadzwa (Taffie) Chibanguza joined SEIFSA on the 1st of March 2022 as Chief Operating Officer. He was previously employed as an Economist at the Minerals Council South Africa. Prior to the mining sector, he worked as a Senior Economist at SEIFSA and a Technical Wealth and Investment Analyst at Rand Merchant Bank.

In the mining and metal sectors his broad focus areas include formulation of mineral, industrial policy, and micro/macro-economic impact assessment modelling.

He holds a Bcom Economics and Econometrics degree from the University of Johannesburg, a Bcom (Honours) Degree in Economic Policy from the University of Witwatersrand, and a Master of Commerce Degree in Economic Policy from the University of Witwatersrand and is scheduled to complete a Master of Science in Mining Engineering from the University of Witwatersrand in 2022.
