The draft Code of Good Practice on the Prevention and Elimination of Violence and Harassment in the World of Work outlines the obligations of employers to ensure the fair treatment of employees as framed by the Employment Equity Act, the International Labour Organisation and the constitution, among various other conventions and legislation.

This training will capacitate organisations to legally and effectively prevent and manage violence and Harassment in the workplace, including GBV, Sexual Violence and Bullying.

You will learn the following:

  • The legal framework and objectives of the draft Code of Good Practice on the Prevention and Elimination of Violence and Harassment in the World of Work;
  • The four forms of violence and harassment in the workplace;
  • The prevention, elimination and management of violence and harassment in the workplace;
  • Procedures for the management of violence and harassment in the workplace; and
  • Relevant case law.

Facilitator

Derrick Thalaivirsan

Derrick is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience in all aspects of the HR field. During his tenure at various large multi-national organisations he has facilitated the definition of strategic objectives and well as the cascading of these objectives into functional/operational plans and individual goals. His role also entailed the establishment, implementation and validation enterprise-wide performance management systems.

In the broader training sphere, Derrick has championed holistic succession, development and training functions. In terms of Employment Equity, Derrick played a critical role in establishing, coordinating and training of EE committees.

Derrick holds a National Diploma in HR Management and has successfully completed post-grad programmes in Advanced Labour Law and Labour Dispute Resolution at UNISA and Wits University.
