Employment Contract Law – plus - Alternatives to costly and inflexible working arrangements

About the training  

Employers need to ensure that employment contracts provide the maximum benefit to the company and ensures the flexibility that every successful company needs.

 This training will help participants understand the impact of labour legislation on employment contracts. It will explore, among other topics:

  • the potential pitfalls and benefits of using alternative and flexible employment arrangements;
  • how to avoid claims of unfair employment practices and unfair dismissals; and
  • The impact that labour legislation such as the Basic Conditions of Employment Act and the Labour Relations Act, and industry documents such as The Main Agreement have on contractual arrangements.


 The presenter

Michael Lavender is SEIFA’s Industrial Relations Manager. He holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences degree majoring in Industrial Psychology and Economics from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, formerly the University of Natal. He has extensive knowledge and experience in labour law and industrial relations.
