Elias Monage

President and Chairman

Elias Monage has extensive experience in business and is the Executive Chairman of Arabela Holdings (Pty) Ltd and Afika Holdings (Pty) Ltd. His experience has seen him become the Black Business Council NEDLAC Convener and the President of CAPES. He is also a Director at Steloy Castings.

Mr Monage obtained a degree in Insolvency Law and Practice at Rand Afrikaans University (RAU) – now known as the University of Johannesburg. He has also studied Telecommunication, Regulation Policy and Management at the University of the Witswatersrand and holds a qualification in Executive Coaching from the University of California in Berkely. He is currently completing a Master’s Degree in Engineering Business Management.

ALPH-NGAPO

Alpheus Motampe Ngapo

Vice President

Alpheus Motampe Ngapo is the Marketing Director: Africa at Arcelor-Mittal South Africa. He qualified with a Diploma in Accounting in 1982 from the Institution of Administration and Commerce of Southern Africa and obtained a Bachelor of Accounting Science degree and subsequently an Honours degree in the same discipline from the University of South Africa in 1992.

Mr Ngapo also completed a Management Development Programme from the Wits School of Business in 1992 and subsequently obtained a qualification of the same name at Darden School Business (USA) in 2005. That year he returned to the Wits Business School to obtain a qualification in Senior Management Programme. Between 2003 and 2006, Mr Ngapo was a Trainee Accountant focused on his learnership towards Chartered Accountant: Financial Management with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (TOPP). In 2010 he obtained a Master of Business Leadership degree from the University of South Africa.

SEIFSA NONHLANHLA NGWENYA

Nonhlanhla Ngwenya

Vice President

Nonhlanhla Ngwenya is the Managing Director of MphoNo Energies and a Board Member at KSB Pumps & Valves (Pty) Ltd. She has 14 years’ experience in senior management positions in the electrical and technology fields and seven years as a Board Member on various Boards.

Ms Ngwenya holds a National Diploma in Electrical Engineering and a Bachelor of Technology degree, both from Pretoria Technikon (now the Tshwane University of Technology); as well as a Management Development Programme Diploma, a BSc Honours in Technology Management and and an MSc in Technology Management, all from the University of Pretoria.

SEIFSA Neil Penson

Neil Penson

Vice President

Neil Penson is the Company Secretary at the Africa Group of the Babcock International Group. He is also a Director of South African Institute of Steel Construction, former Chairman of the Constructional Engineering Association and former Non-Executive Director of Roshcon (Pty) Ltd (wholly owned subsidiary of Eskom Holdings).

Mr Penson holds a BSc in Civil Engineering, a BCom and other qualifications in Corporate Governance and Commercial Law.

SEIFSA Seneca Lutchman

Seneca Lutchmana

Non-Executive Director

Seneca Lutchmana is the Chief Legal and Human Resources Officer at Lixil Africa. She has about 15 years’ experience in the commercial/legal fields in senior management positions in the mining and manufacturing sectors and 10 years’ as a Board Member on various Boards.

Ms Lutchmana holds a Diploma in Business Management from Technikon Natal (now the Durban University of Technology), a B.Proc from the University of Natal, an LLM in Commercial Law from the University of South Africa, an MBA from the Milpark Business School and a series of other qualifications, including Diplomas in Alternative Dispute Resolution (University of Pretoria) and in Advanced Banking (Rand Afrikaans University, now University of Johannesburg).

Mervyn Moodley

Mervin Moodley

Non-Executive Director

Mervin Moodley is the Managing Director of Atlantis Foundries (Pty) Ltd. He has vast experience in a number of economic sectors, in which he has held various executive positions.

He holds a B.Com in Accounting from the University of the Western Cape and a B.Compt (Honours)/Certificate in Theory of Accountancy from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. 

Roger Bester

Roger Bester

Non-Executive Director

Roger Bester is the Regional Manager for Africa at Shanahan Engineering. 

Boasting three decades of experience in management positions in the mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and construction industries, Bester holds a National Higher Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Johannesburg, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Management from the Damelin School of Business, a Grinaker Management Development Programme and various short courses on contract law, contract claims, contract planning and labour law.

Andrea Moz

Non-Executive Director

Andrea Moz is the Chief Executive Officer of Auto Industrial Group. He has 23 years’ experience in senior management positions in the metals and related industries.

A Chartered Accountant, Mr Moz holds a B.Com degree, with majors in Accounting, Business Economics and Commercial Law, from the University of the Witwatersrand and a B.Compt. Honours degree in Management Accounting, Taxation, Auditing and Information Systems from the University of South Africa.

Tumi Tsehlo

Tumi Tsehlo

Non-Executive Director

Tumi Tsehlo is the Managing Director of the South African Mint Company (Pty) Ltd. He has 21 years’ experience in senior management positions in the electrical and technology fields, has been the Managing Director of the South African Mint Company since 2011 and has served on various other Boards.

Mr Tsehlo holds a BSc degree in Electromechanical Engineering from the University of Cape Town, an MSc in Industrial Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand and an MBA from the University of Cape Town.

Ellen Veldhoven

Non-Executive Director

Ellen Veldhoven is the Group Human Resources Manager of the Zimco Group (Pty) Ltd. She has 30 years’ experience in human resources and senior management positions in the metals and engineering sector.

Ms Veldhoven holds a Diploma in Personnel Management from the Institute of Administration and Commerce, as well as BA and B.Ed degrees from the University of the Witwatersrand.

Kaizer Nyatsumba joined SEIFSA on 1 November 2013 as Chief Executive Officer. A Certified Director (IoDSA), Nyatsumba holds an MBA from the University of Hull, a BA Honours degree from Georgetown University in Washington DC, a Post-Graduate Certificate in Economics from the University of the Witwatersrand, an Advanced Management Diploma from the University of Pretoria’s Gordon’s Institute of Business Science, a Leadership Development Diploma from the Harvard Business School in Boston and a Diploma in Journalism from the Newspaper Institute of America in New York.

Lucio Trentini

Operations Director

Lucio Trentini joined SEIFSA in 1990 as an Industrial Relations Advisor. Over the last two decades, he has been involved at management and executive level at SEIFSA and has been actively involved in the leadership of the federation.

A key member of the metal and engineering industry wage negotiating team, Trentini holds a BA in Economics and Industrial Psychology, a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from the University of the Witwatersrand and the Graduate School of Business Administration respectively. He also holds an Expert Negotiator Certificate issued by the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS).

Louwresse Specht

Acting Company Secretary

Louwresse Specht is an Admitted Attorney of the High Court and holds LLB and MBA degrees from Northwest University and a Certificate in Human Resources Management from the University of Cape Town. She has worked as Group Legal Counsel at Diraro Group and as an Associate Attorney at Sampson Attorneys and at 

Molenaar & Griffiths Inc. Specht has vast experience in compliance, corporate governance, labour law, corporate law, commercial law and litigation practice related to these fields.  She joined SEIFSA in January 2020.

Chief Financial Officer

Rajendra Rajcoomar joined SEIFSA in May 2014 as a Chief Financial Officer. He has previously worked as Financial Manager for DPI Plastics, Chief Financial Officer at the FoodBev SETA, Financial Manager at Phambili Wasteman and Financial Accountant at Unitrans Freight.

Rajcoomar holds a B.Com in Accounting and Auditing from the University of Durban-Westville, a B.Com Honours in Business Management from the University of South Africa, a Higher Diploma in Tax Law from the Rand Afrikaans University, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Accounting Science from the University of South Africa and an MBA from the University of the Witwatersrand.

Michael Ade

Chief Economist 

Michael Ade joined SEIFSA on 1 August 2017 as Chief Economist. He holds a B.Com from the University of Buea in Cameroon, a B.Com Honours in General and Financial Economics and an M.Com in Economic Development and Policy Issues from the University of Johannesburg, as well as a Ph.D in Public Economics (Taxation) and International Economics from the University of the Witwatersrand. He also holds certificates in International Trade and Commodity Finance, Export Management and Econometric Analysis of Panel Data.

Prior to joining SEIFSA, Dr Ade worked for the South African Revenue Service as Director: Capacity Development, Programmes and Research. He has previously worked as Chief Economist at Productivity South Africa, Transitional and Technical Manager at ABSA Bank and Group Accountant at Afrikings, the marketing wing of Vodacom.

Sumaya Hoosen

Sumaya Hoosen

Human Capital and Skills Development Executive

Sumaya Hoosen joined SEIFSA on 1 June 2020 as Human Capital and Skills Development Executive. She holds a Diploma in Training Management from Damelin College, an occupationally directed ETDP Certificate from DIONYSIS and a BCom degree in Industrial and Organisational Psychology from the University of South Africa.

She has previously worked as HR Generalist and Skills Development Facilitator at AMKA Products, Skills Development Facilitator at Consol Glass, Organisational Performance Manager at Sephaku Cement, Head of Human Resources and Administration at Gear Rail SA (Pty) Ltd and Head of Organisational Development, Learning and Development at Denel Aeronautics SOC.

Louwresse Specht

Acting Industrial Relations & Legal Services Executive

Louwresse Specht holds a LLB from the North West University and an AMBA accredited MBA from the North West University Business School. She was previously employed as group legal counsel in the road freight, logistics and commodity trading industry, where her duties included compliance management, IR management, employment law matters, commercial law matters and company secretarial duties.  She also practiced as an attorney, specialising in corporate law, commercial litigation and trial advocacy.

Specht has an insatiable curiosity in understanding business needs and learning about the business environment. She is an avid problem solver who strives to find the best suited, economical and strategically sound solutions to any challenge. Specht prioritises adding value in whatever she is involved with

Nuraan Alli

Acting Marketing, Sales and Communications Executive

Nuraan Alli is passionate about business development.  Her depth of experience and knowledge gained working at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Department of Trade and Industry and running her own business places her in the ideal position to influence and manage stakeholder relationships to facilitate business growth and prosperity.  She has a strong marketing and communications background which she has applied to developing business and marketing objectives in a variety of industries. She has been at the forefront of driving SIEFSA’S digital marketing growth strategy.

Alli joined SEIFSA as Sales Manager in 2016. Over the years she has acted in the capacity of Marketing and Communications Manager as well.

Alli holds an BA Hons Comm (RAU), MAP (WBS), and she is currently completing her Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration ( PGDBM), MANCOSA.

Mark Lotter

Marketing Manager

Mark Lotter is a Marketing and Communication professional. He has more than 18 years of experience working within the private and non-profit sector. Lotter holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Politics and Communication from the University of Canberra (UC), a Professional Designation in International Trade and Commerce from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), a Certificate in Project Management from the University of Cape Town (UCT) Graduate School of Business (GSB), a Fundamentals of Digital Marketing from the Ogilvy Digital Marketing Academy (ODMA), and a Fundamentals of Fundraising from the University of Indiana.

Lotter has been with SEIFSA from November 2017; prior to that he worked in the financial sector, as Marketing Manager at NMG Benefits, the Non-Profit Sector, as Marketing and Fundraising Manager at the Impumelelo Social Innovations Centre, and the Impumelelo Innovations Awards Trust based at the Institute for Democracy of South Africa (IDASA), and for a Leading Public Affairs Agency, Corporate Image.

A self-described “Digital Native” and “Cricket nut”, Mark enjoys the challenge of communicating on behalf of one the most strategically important industries in South Africa.

Mpho Lukoto

Communications Manager

Mpho Lukoto joined SEIFSA on 1 July 2020 as Communications Manager.

A former journalist with more than 15 years’ experience in media and communications, Lukoto has a BA degree in Journalism from the University of Johannesburg and has worked as both a writer and sub-editor for publications such as The Star, Business Report and Business Day. She has also worked in both the private and public sectors as a communications practitioner. Before joining SEIFSA, she was a freelance writer and sub-editor at Business Day, Sowetan, Sunday World and Picasso Headline and at various large companies such as MultiChoice, BCX and Telkom.

Michael Lavender

Industrial Relations Manager

Michael Lavender joined SEIFSA in 1991 as an Industrial Relations Manager.  He has held various positions within the Industrial Relations Division, including Senior Industrial Relations Advisor and Industrial Relations Services Training Manager, and was appointed to the position of Industrial Relations Manager in 2013.  Lavender holdsa Bachelor of Social Sciences degree, majoring in Industrial Psychology and Economics from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, formerly the University of Natal, A Personnel Management Trainee Programme from Rand Mines,a Certificate Programme in Industrial Relations (CPIR) from the University of the Witwatersrand’s Graduate School of Public and Development Management (Wits Business School), and An Expert Negotiator Certificate issued by the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS).

 Lavender’s advises and trains companies on the Main Agreement and labour law, and chairing hearings in the areas of disciplinary, incapacity, grievance. Representing various companies in retrenchment consultations and other industrial relations matters such as disputes and industrial action, as well as at the CCMA and the MEIBC Bargaining Council at conciliation and arbitration

Vuyiswa Miya

Vuyiswa Miya

Industrial Relations and Legal Services Manager

Vuyiswa Miya has extensive experience as an Admitted Attorney and has worked for Schreuder Attorneys, Moss Marsh Georgiev Attorneys and Anton Bakker Attorneys. She holds an LLB degree and a Postgraduate Diploma in Labour Law from the University of Johannesburg.

Miya has also been invited to lecture on the Labour Dispute Resolution module of Practical Legal Studies at the University of Pretoria and the University of North-West respectively.

Mariaan De Jager

Finance Manager

Mariaan De Jager has been employed by SEIFSA since 2015. She hold a  BCompt Degree for UNISA, and has more than 20 years of experience in the Accounting and Finance fields.

Previously , she has worked for Chubb Security  in various financial positions including  Accountant, Branch Admin Manager, Regional Financial Manager Assistant. Prior to that she worked at South African Meat Industry Company and International Meat Quality Assurance as Accountant.

Theresa Crowley

Associations Manager

Theresa Crowley is the Associations Manager and is responsible for the overall management of all the Associations federated to SEIFSA. Theresa is customer centric (she was awarded Employee of the Year in 2018).

Crowley joined SEIFSA on 25 February 2004 as an Associations Administrator and was promoted to Associations Manager in 2010. She holds a Diploma in Secretarial/Business Administration (Anchor Business College),  a Certificate in Labour Relations Management (RAU – now University of Johannesburg) and successfully completed the Management Development Programme (Unisa) and is also a member of the Institute of People Management.

Prior to joining SEIFSA, Crowley worked for the South African Forum of Civil Engineering Contractors (previously known as the South African Federation of Civil Engineering Contractors (SAFCEC)) as an Industrial Relations Officer.

Marique-Mari Kruger

Economist

Marique Kruger joined SEIFSA in July 2017 as an Economist within the Federation’s Economic and Commercial Division. She holds a B.Com Honours in Economics from the University of Johannesburg and she completed a Master of Commerce in Economics from the same institution. Part of her role at SEIFSA entails facilitating the Theory and Calculation of Contract Price Adjustment CPA workshop, advising clients both on the buying and supplying side of contracts on matters relating to CPA, as well as helping them to structure their CPA clauses, using the SEIFSA Price and Index Pages (PIPS). Prior to joining SEIFSA, Ms Kruger worked at Statistics South Africa and ETSA as a Junior Economist.

Desmond Uithaler

Desmond Uithaler has managed the SEIFSA Training Centre (STC) since 2007. With a collective 37 years of experience – this wealth of relevant industry experience includes time with Ford Motor Company, Shatterprufe, and SAB and Tiger Brands. In addition, his qualifications include an MBL, BComm (Law) and also qualifications in Human Resources Management and Electrical Engineering
