About the workshop
The new wage rates and increases are effective on 1 July 2013, this half day workshop will discuss these and what to expect the increase to be in 2013 based upon the three year wage deal agreed with the unions last year.
In addition the wage increase exemption procedure for companies that cannot afford the wage increases will also be discussed in detail. The MEIBCs independent auditor who examines the companies exemption application will be present after lunch to give detailed procedural and substantive input into the process. It is important to note that companies have until 31 July to lodge a wage increase exemption.
The workshop will cover the industry collective bargaining structure and process, the dos and donts of various types of employment relationships, such as labour brokers, limited duration contract workers, and other important conditions of the Main Agreement, including:
- Annual leave pay and leave enhancement pay including the annual shutdown
- Payment for Public Holidays and Sunday pay
- Calculation of shifts for leave and leave enhancement pay
- Wage rates and the wage exemption procedure
- Short-time provisions and recently agreed simplified process to deal with power outages and other unforseen contingencies
- Family responsibility leave
- Changes to the Sick Pay Fund rules granting employees an additional nine days compassionate leave
A live, on-line demonstration of the Main Agreement Webpage and Portal, will be demonstrated, this was successfully launched in 2009 and remains an exclusive service to SEIFSA Member companies.
The Main Agreement Webpage offers a variety of key and important services including: quick word search facility; quick downloads of pro-forma letters and contracts and direct access to SEIFSAs Industrial Relations consultants.
SEIFSA also offers the training on an in-house basis which is a more cost effective option for several delegates.
